Chemistry

Black Chemistry   10/19/2014

Swallow it down
And wait for the feeling
As the capsule melts
And the pellets explode.

Warm in your veins
And hot in your head
The numb and welcome euphoria
To help you cope
For another few hours.

One foot in front of the other
The longer you go
The more you need
Never very far
In between.

Look through the drawers
And call up your friends
Chasing after something
That will kill you
In the end.

The house can fall apart
And your fingers can bleed
But you won’t feel a thing
Until you run out.

The moonlight sun
Is more than you can take
When you are deep in the blackness
Of the forest of death.

The dogs can smell them
Before me or you
A sweet and sickly smell
Beneath the dirt.

Some search for numbness
And some search for death
One killing himself
And the other
Looking for you.

There are the days
That can crush your soul
Leaving you an empty pile
On the side of the road.

We buried the dead soldiers
Under the sand
And we jumped over the fire
Screaming into the night.

Come now
And join me
As we dance
And we laugh.

Because tomorrow is nothing
When we say goodbye…
And we have almost nothing to lose
Except our bodies
And our souls.
