Bugged Out

Bugged Out  9/11/2013

Swivel your head
From the left to the right
But don’t forget to notice
What doesn’t fit
And never works.

Human nature
Is what it is
Either for the better
Or for the worse.

If control leads to death
Then you had better forget it
Because everything that was
Will always come again.

Metal smashes against metal
And shattered glass
Can slash the skin
But watch out for the projectiles
Bouncing off the ground.

A dark pestilence comes
But first
It must poison the mind
Backing you into a corner
With nowhere to run.

Some will run
And try to hide
But others will lash out
Irrational and dumb.

All the money is worthless
And all the houses are defiled
As we dream of the splendor
That a few can still remember.

The cars pile up
On the freeway
And the trees burn
Out of control
While we look to sky
With our mouths wide open.

Reality is distorted
And the ugliness is ignored
As if it never happened
And truth does not exist.

What is there to do?
At the end of it all
When both the good and the bad
Are washed away with time.

But it won’t matter
If you cling to security
Because the treasure has been looted
And all the credit is gone.

I will grab hold
Of what is most important
Embracing tightly
What is irreplaceable
And beautiful.

Hold on to your children
Because they are what evil wants
Yesterday, today
And even more tomorrow.
