Rebel Rebel

Rebel Rebel 8/2/2013

Rebel, Rebel in the sky
Tuck in your head
And hide your face
Because real rebels
Are seldom seen,
Often caught
And always die.

Killers are everywhere
And liars abound
Especially when it’s easy
And no one gives a damn.

Some lose their jobs
And some lose their heads
The price of being human
And doing what is right.

The few are protected
Either by gates or by towers
Safe enough to judge
Everything and everyone.

Many have called themselves a rebel
But if you know their names
Then they were safe
Never courageous enough
To leave the shallow end.

They only targeted the scapegoats
And only sought
To shock the good
Just to get noticed
And make money.

Careful never to rock the boat
Or offend the media culture complex
Because that has ruined many a man
And cursed many a heart.

Rebel, Rebel
Why are you sleeping?
Where are you now?
And why do you wait?

It is here and it is now
Today and yesterday
Tomorrow and forever
We need a rebel
And we need a cure.

A rebel with an acid tongue
And a diamond bullet
Shooting straight as an arrow
Through the apple and core.

Unafraid of what may come
Indomitable and stubborn
Unwilling the compromise
Either for money
Or for favor.

Willing to live
Like no one ever has
And blaze a trail
For us to follow.

Rebel, Rebel
Splash your colors
All over the world
Burning bright
So everyone can see.

Rebel, Rebel
How long must we wait
Until we see
That it’s up to us
Or its too late.
