Have you seen the sun

Burning through the haze

Slowly setting down

To bubble in the sea.

Have you cradled a bloody head

Of the dead and dying

Pleading with God and man

To arise and avenge?

Come and see

What is at hand

As the curtain is lifted

On deceit and hatred. 

We should have seen it coming

But we were too busy running

Like a hamster inside a wheel

Faster and faster

Dumber and dead.

We play with life

And we play at death

Unable to think

About what we thought. 

Imagining ourselves

Through the lens of a movie

As we create false realities

And dream our life away.

People act shocked

And try to blame others

When they should have done something

A long time ago. 

But we have learned

To go with the flow

Swimming in the mainstream

Straight off the falls. 

But wherever we go

We should see where it leads

And find the source

That springs eternal

For you and for me.

Nothing we do

Will be perfect

And yes it’s all been done before

So we might as well be happy

Doing what is right

And being who we are.
