Drizzle

Drizzle 8/14/2014

Some days weigh more than others
Pushing you downwards
Under concrete and steel
Too heavy to lift
And suffocating.

There are things
For which there is no answer
And it is then
That we fall
Into the hands of God.

It should go without saying
That the golden age is over
As the world tips sideways
And gasps for breath.

But the pain of yesterday
And the obstacles of today
Make us who we are
And we are the last of the first
And the first of the last.

Greater things remain
Heroic and hard
As we drink the bitter remains
At the bottom
And at the end.

Many have passed over
But they are with us
And we are with them
Everything
And everywhere.

Sometimes the greatest battles
Are small and invisible
As we wage war inside our heads
Against darkness and death.

But we can be saved
Even if we lose
By the grace of forgiveness
And the peace of God.

But for us
And It must be good enough
That we cannot explain
Why we are here
And why we survive.

It’s easy to judge
But harder to live
When the cold gray drizzle falls
Inside of your soul.

We find ourselves in places
We never dreamed,
We would see,
And we are forced to start all over
Back where we started again.

The journey uphill can take decades
But you can fall down
In the blink of an eye
As all that you worked for
Is all washed away.

Defeat and shame
Happen every day
But only for those who can feel it
And acknowledge the pain.

The good often suffer
And press in on themselves
Imploding from the outside in
And dying every day.

But, we should never forget
That the world is fallen
Dumb, heartless,
And cruel.

The world goes on
With or without
But we must carry on
And keep trying.

God is here
Even if we cannot see
And it is that assurance
That makes all the difference.

Pray for me
As I pray for you
That none shall be lost
Everything gained,
And everyone found.
