Deep Workings

Deep Workings 8/4/2014

A longtime forever
Has slowed to a crawl
But it doesn’t really matter how fast
When you are heading for a cliff.

Exhaustion weighs on the mind
And pulls you down like a weight
Making every effort
Almost more,
Than we can bear.

I can feel my heart speed up
And I can feel it
Slow down
As I labor to breathe
And labor to live.

Sitting standing or falling
We fight against inertia
As forces we cannot control
Wear us down
And use us up.

Something inside
Beats against life
All because we have fallen
And all because
We don’t know.

A secret remains
Like a switch in the soul
And we remain unable
To turn it on
Or off.

Time will tell
And God will reveal
Every detail
And every secret.

Life also wells up
And springs eternal
From nothing everything
The essence
And the joy.

We are information
And like everything else
We ride on waves
Inside our bodies.

What is dead will fall away
But what is real will flourish
Transforming us
Into something
More lasting.

We will fly
And we will return
Once again
Finding each other
In a new, and deeper way
