Another day

And another atrocity

All of it avoidable

With guts

And truth. 

Even evil is devout

Allowing itself to lie

In order to conquer

And possess.

And it should come

As no surprise

As the deluded

Whistle past the graveyard

Foolish and dead.

Evil comes

And spreads like a disease

More and more obvious

To every man with eyes.

Quiet at first

And then

More and more violent

As the numbers increase

Malignant and deadly. 

Many sleep

And many are afraid

Cowering from the truth

And doubting the obvious. 

The secrets are out

And hidden in plain sight

Lusting after murder

And gnashing their teeth. 

What will it take

For some to notice?

Beaten, robbed or raped

Exploded, shot, or stabbed.

The very earth shudders

Under our feet

At the sheer weight of the folly

Good after bad.

Millimeter by millimeter

The truth is obscured

So that even the honest

Doubt what they saw

And doubt what they know.

Oh how the good fall

And grovel on their knees

Bludgeoned in public

For no reason at all. 

No one speaks

And no one dares to acknowledge

The horrifying truth

Unfolding in our midst. 

They will go on

And they will yet

Watch it in horror

All of it predicted

For thousands of years.

Beyond sad

And beyond pathetic

The forgetfulness of man

Full of empty pride.
