Sliding sideways into a crack

We desperate seek oblivion

Giving in and giving up

Just because we can. 

Life is painful

And life is hard

So we kill ourselves

With chemicals

And self-loathing.

Anywhere but here

And anytime but now

We run back to the numb

That we all know so well. 

She lived fast

And died young

Wasting a gift

That only a few

Ever know.

Bleeding out

On a hospital bed

Up and over

Finished and done.

The weight is left behind

For others to carry

And drag

Another burden

On top of many. 

I carry the wounds of others

Some self-inflicted

And some not

Some healed

And some infected.

Invisibly manifested

On our minds

And on our soul

The burden of knowing

And seeking. 

You and I are seekers

And we look into the dark

Seeking truth and salvation

Bloody, beaten, and humble.

Yes we suffer

But we should always remember

That life really is beautiful

And worth every sting. 

Love with all your heart

And contemplate every dream

Seeking, learning, exploring

Even the silly ones

Perfectly flawed.
