Friends

Friends         7/17/2015

If you find a twig
The branch can’t be far
Never far from the tree
Looking for you
And looking for me.

The roots have spread
But the blood remains
Bonding us together
Soul, spirit, and name.

Covering our tracks
We have forgotten the truth
Hidden for the longest time
And buried in the sand.

No less guilty
And no less forgiven
Loved, cherished,
Gifted, and free.

The spark persists
Even in the rain
Against ever doubt
And every storm.

We started out different
But we still feel the same
Imprisoned together
And far from home.

We have forgotten
And we have lost
As we hopelessly
Search for life
And meaning.

It may seem too sentimental
But it has always been true
That without love and memory
Nothing would exist.

If we believe
All will be found
Everything we ever imagined
And better than we dreamed.

It is all inside
And larger than the world
The very essence of who we are
And ever hoped to be.

We will have it back
And we will have each other
Effortlessly sharing
And learning.

Nothing is lost,
Not even the dead
Lifted up
Worthy, unworthy
Ready or not.
