Blood Moon Rising

Stand outside yourself and wonder
Because this is what looks right to man
As he kicks the can down the street
And whistles in the dark.

The black clouds have gathered
And now they block the sun
As the world plunges into darkness
And death tightens his grip.

The players are all present
And the feasts go on as planned
As the murders mount
And the banks are looted.

They think this is victory
But there are self-confident fools
Deluded by pride
And amorality.

My stomach sinks
And my knees buckle
But I must try as long as possible
And stand as long as I can.

The blood moon comes
And the tide rises higher and higher
Threatening to drown us
In a flood of deceit.

But why not, let it come
And bleed all the way out
Because even this
Shall all pass away.

Le the damage explode
And splatter in all directions
Spreading disease
And rot.

Invading every crevice
Unchecked and unfettered
Until everything is ruined
And everything wasted.

Because only then
Shall come the full harvest
When we finally see
What was always there.

Many have lost hope
And long for relief
Pulling up the covers
Up and over their head.

Suffocating in degrees
Under the weight of dread
Preferring death
Over struggle.

But I shall wait
And flash a knowing smile
Thinking of the sword
Straining against the hand
Until the last are lost
And the Lord shall come.
