Yesterday a Year

Yesterday a Year   10/18/2013

Water is wine
And wine is blood
Sucked between my teeth
And burning in my heart.

Nothing is ever enough
To take away the past
But everything that is lost
Shall always come back again.

Fake rebels run in the streets
Paid to wreak havoc
All for a cause
They will never earn.

Yesterday I became older
But I am far from done
Because fools die by the dozen
Out of ignorance and calamity.

All of this
Is nothing at all
Because we were never abandoned
And never forgotten.

What are numbers?
And what are odds?
Compared to the truth
On our lips
And faith in our hearts.

Easy things,
Are easily forgotten
But he who stands in the hurricane
Shall overcome the world
And live forever.

Every day we are renewed
And every night we are cleansed
Washed white as snow
By the first blood
Given freely
For once and for all.

The hardships are nothing
And all the setbacks a test
As we grow and learn
To crawl, walk, and run.

Nothing is owed
And I shall not be ashamed
For God also knows
And never forgets.

Grab hold of what will last
And let go of the rest
For he who hates shall lose
And he who loses shall win.
