Poison in
And poison out
Enough to kill the patient
Many times
A thousand.
Hidden in the triangle
The creeping death abounds
Unknown by mouth
Sudden and down.
No one dares speak it
Because of how it looks
The young and the silent
Hopeless in sleep.
The lionize a criminal
And they excuse murder
Forgetting the innocent
Cut short
And cut off.
Hooked for cheap
And finished in a flash
The hated die
Replaced
And reviled.
Between the highways
And the crumbling bridge
The golden promise
Lost in a day.
We could have done more
But it was all thrown away
Unprotected
And exposed.
Victims of a culture
Unraveled for a profit
A planned and managed decline
Thinned
And purged.
