Harbinger

Harbinger                4/19/2017

Once there were many
But now
There are few
Passing though the hour glass
At zero point merge.

Picked off by murder
And ravaged by age
The good are thinned
And hunted
At the fringe.

Ignored by the gatekeepers
And mocked by the media
The dwindling reminders
Of who we were
And what we believed.

The stars have fallen
And now they boil
At the bottom
Hidden in the words
That no one will read.

Evil never sleeps
But we have slept
For far too long
Struggling against the comfort
Of delusion
And denial.

Once the leap is taken
There can be no
Turning back
And knowledge
Once understood
Becomes an insatiable flame.

It was all a lie
All that we were told
About who was right
And who was wrong.

The secrets spilling out
Through the tiniest of cracks
As the pressure builds
Against long held assumptions.

Almost disappeared
The courageous few emerge
Taking the steps
That many have feared.

Tested by fire
And tempered by suffering
They stand in the gap
Against the many
And the desperate.

The of truth is coming
And with it
The vermin will scurry
Heading for the shadows
And hoping it will pass.

Endlessly multiplying
They aim for annihilation
Dreaming of death
And vile hatred.

Let them chew upon their tongues
And let them stew in their bile
Knowing that even a few
Shall have it all.
