Doubled over

And cut in half

Gasping for breath

Guts on the floor.  

Sudden is the horror

In the middle of the day

Blown to bits

And impossible to repair.

The world teeters

And shudders under the weight

Fire in all the windows

It all falls down. 

Careful are the evil

And how patiently they plan

Compromised and complicit

In all kinds of death. 

Underneath

And underground

The fallen evil

Under glass.

And faithful

Are their servants

Selling us out

For profit and fun. 

Sacrificial lambs

Passed through the fire

Over and over again

Deep down

Dumb and dead. 

Praying with all our heart

Our backs against a wall

The weight of the world

Cutting us up

And dragging us down.
