Free Fall

Free Fall                 10/13/2016

Sliding metal
Locks into place
Swinging on a hinge
Sideways and shut.

With no way in
And no way out
The evil of the heart
Wet, Sticky, and black.

Unable to lose
And unable to bend
Burning everything down
In a twisted, spasm of rage.

A dead ender
Long on the run
Doing all they can
While they can.

Deceiving who they will
And burning them all up
Used and abused
All the way up
And all the way down.

Chewed up in war
Or stabbed in the spine
The unconscious meat
Sliding on the ice.

We have all walked through it
Whether we understood or not
The terrible pageant of deception
Mere pawns in the play.

And many have sought escape
And buried their head
In their hands
Desperate to sleep.

We count their names
And pass the coin
Each one to say goodbye
The long way around.

Daily life
Drags on
But we were born
To see this through
Turning twice
Or turning blue.

Held in place
And trapped in time
Cascading downward
Head over heels.

Colder

Colder                                         10/12/2016

731 days before
Two years plus the jump
A mid-point of the sun
Divided and dark.

Many did not know
And many did not understand
Where the nightmare began
And just how it shall end.

Yes we believed
And yes we all tried
Hitched up and ready
Running with all our strength.

One thing ended
And then another began
Saving us all
For another day
And another battle.

The good fought
Against themselves
Suffering and striving
Over nothing at all.

Coaxed, prodded
And paused before the fire
We are made
And then extinguished.

God only knows
What it is
All that is done
For power
And money.

Crawling on its belly
And chewing through the heart
Compromised, infiltrated,
Eaten and dead.

Under the fence
And inside the wire
The enemy within
Far worse than soldiers.

We wept for the dead
But the killer was their friend
All bought and paid for
Tragic, dumb and sad.

It is never enough
Because they want more
The same now as then
And rotten to the core.

The window is closing
But the door is still ajar
Now more than ever
The same usurpers
Curse at the stars.

Over Sword

Over Sword        10/9/2016

All against one
And one against the world
Stacked, and slanted
By liars and thieves.

Two voices
Pierce the darkness
Witnesses to all
Who have ears
To listen and know.

Buried by lies
The secrets are spilled
But only if you search
And only if you care.

No man is perfect
But some have sold their souls
Anything to win
And anything to steal.

Propped up, and artificial
Babylon rides upon the beast
Drunk with the blood of many
Murdered along the way.

Powerful is the truth
And much of it, is known
But the silence can tell you everything
About who is protected
And who is excused.

One day
Two days
But no more than three
Shall evil laugh
And gloat upon the dead.

Let the good, ask God
To speak through their mouth
In the hour of need
For defense and truth.

Yes, the good ask God
And yes, the good will rise
More powerful than ever
Unshaken, undefeated
And miraculously approved.

God is greater
And God is stronger
Patiently waiting
To rise up is own.

Evil hides
And evil lies
The same now as then
A murderer and thief.

One way or another
The greatest victory awaits
The truth outright
And shining like the sun.

Let them run
And let them hide
Gnashing their teeth
Corrupt, empty
Forgotten and dead.

Triumph

Triumph             9/29/2016

Clouds gather
And a heaviness fills the air
Weighing us down
With intensifying fear.

The moon hides
In our shadow
As we spin around the sun
In an ancient arc
Of rhythmic tides.

We have lived
And we have loved
But bigger things
Happen outside.

Secrets are hidden
But we still get a glimpse
Waking up
Or sliding down.

Inertia is gravity
Pulling me downward
Into a hole
Pulling me into a vacuum
Of lethargy and loathing.

An internal fog
From which
There is little escape
A cold, gray drizzle
In the middle of my mind.

In silence we live
And foolishness we die
Without ever questioning
How or why.

Slaves to impulse
And instinctive emotions
Traceable to our common tragedies
One after another.

Questions surface
But then we push them down
Imagining everything
But doing nothing.

If we stay the same
We are already buried
Bombed into hades
Burning in our fat.

Evil reigns
And that explains it all
An unbearable existence
Devolving into violence
And senseless terror.

Evil never rests
And now it paces
At the door
Unleashed
And unfettered
It rages out of control.

Remember the poets
When the world goes dark
Searching for familiar words
In the blank screen of death.

Find it in the streets
And find it in the dark
The rebel press
Indomitable
And unstoppable.

Even in the darkness
We have lit the fire
The kind that burns
Brighter by the hour.

They have lost
So now see the desperation mount
Spent completely in a spasm
To destroy all they can.

Trust in the light
And lean upon God
That all of us are protected
Joyful at his return.

Sliding Window

Sliding Window               9/28/2016

Quiet as a mouse
In the dead of night
The subversion of truth
And speech.

We who peered
Behind the curtain
Saw more than they wanted
Shrugging off the sleep
Of numberless years.

Rubbing our eyes in disbelief
That so many were used
All of us duped
And all of us fooled.

Right under our nose
And barely mentioned at all
The passage of truth
From searchable
To forbidden.

All of it for power
And all of it for control
The masses used
And guided
Just because
They can.

The change has come
And many have awakened
Too many to jail
Or murder.

So now the window closes
Unnoticed in the night
Slipping by
And slipping through
Unreported and unopposed.

Win or lose
They cashed their checks
Each one privileged
And feeding at the trough.

We believed
And we tried
Doing our best
Day in
And day out.

But all of it was rigged
And all of it
Was squandered
Wasted away
On nothing at all.

Pray lest the spark go out
Leaving us all
Fumbling in the darkness
Led by lies
To our own slaughter.

Let the light expose all
And always find a way
To share the truth
Even when shunned
And even when punished.

That they day will yet come
That all is known and understood
Shinning like the sun
Forever.
